Monday and Friday 08:00-15:30

Tuesday to Thursday 08:00 -16:00

Pay Rate: £26,300 to 39,500 D.OE. fixed term 2yr

Our Client is looking for A Health and Safety Co-Ordinator to  provide  effective administration support to the Health, Safety & Environment Manager. This role is brand new to the plant and has plenty of scope for the right person.  This is a fixed term contract for 2 years.

The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the overall safety and well-being of employees and visitors within a workplace. This position involves collaborating with management, employees, and regulatory bodies to implement and maintain effective health and safety policies and procedures. The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing preventive measures to reduce accidents and injuries. They also oversee safety training programs and monitor compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Continuously review and update safety policies to reflect best practices and industry standards
• EHS committee meeting preparation/presentations and take actions at meetings.
• Organize and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientations and ongoing refresher courses.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine the root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement and review risk assessments including COSHH assessments.
• Prepare and submit incident reports as required by regulatory agencies.
• Stay up to date with relevant health and safety regulations and ensure the organization’s compliance with these standards.
• Consult with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
• Update emergency response plans to address potential emergencies such as fires, natural disasters, or medical incidents.
• Conduct drills and exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response procedures.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of the workplace, equipment, and tools to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Record any identified issues and follow through with corrective actions.
• Promote a strong safety culture within the organization by encouraging active participation and engagement in safety programs.
• Organize safety awareness campaigns and initiatives.
• Undertake and organize Gemba walks.
• Internal auditing of HSE procedures and activities
• Compile and analyze safety-related data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports on safety performance for management review.

Qualifications and Experience :

• Certifications Qualification in health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Professional in health and safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) are often preferred.
• Proven experience in health and safety coordination or a related field.
• Experience in a fast-paced production or engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, codes, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and people skills to interact with employees at all levels.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Diligence and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
