Salary: £35k to £40k DOE

Schedule: Monday – Thursday 8-5 and then 8-12 on Fridays.

Based in Lancashire, our client is a precision engineering specialist supplying quality tooling solutions to a wide range of industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Healthcare and Packaging.
Benefitting from 40 years’ experience in the industry, our highly skilled team is ideally placed to offer a variety of services including consultation, design, manufacture, and installation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing components and tooling using Siemens Solid Edge.

Job description

The role of a Design engineer will include the following duties:
⦁ Designing product components, assemblies, and production tooling in line with company standard practices, design for manufacture concepts, set budgets and deadlines.
⦁ Producing Concepts, 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, assemblies, and Bill of materials.
⦁ Investigating, identifying, and utilising suitable materials and products in designs.
⦁ Liaising and collaborating with engineering, production, onsite machine shops and purchasing departments, as well as suppliers.
⦁ Collaborating with engineering department on factory instruction documentation, parts’ lists and ensuring costs are understood and communicated.
⦁ Convening, Chairing and recording design reviews as necessary.
Required Skills:
⦁ Engineering Degree, or significant equivalent aerospace / industry experience.
⦁ CAD packages – Siemens Solid Edge
⦁ Experience of fundamental mechanical design and geometrical tolerances including best practices for machining and assembly – design for manufacture
⦁ Strong understanding of engineering material properties
⦁ An ability to create designs from concepts through to final manufactured parts
⦁ An ability to work to deadlines and under pressure

Desirable Skills:
⦁ Time served Engineer.
⦁ 7-10 years’ experience as a design engineer
⦁ Hands-on shop floor / Machine shop experience
⦁ Strong understanding of Siemens Solid Edge and the Aerospace sector, Automotive, Medical, Safety and general engineering.
